it's 10:49 PM, and all i really want right now is to get in my bed, get cozy, and sleep for 20 hours straight, with no interruptions besides maybe waking up on my own, only to realize that i can drift off for another so many hours uninterrupted. next to me on the couch is fern, struggling to breathe through her nasty snot accumulation, and offering up a lame cry. she's wiggling her swaddled body. we're both pathetic.
she has an ultrasound tomorrow at CHOP at 9 AM, to check on her kidneys' fluid levels. part of me is praying the weather will keep us from making the appointment.
now she's trying to latch onto my upper arm. pregnancy does great things to thighs, arms, and chins. let me tell you.

fern francis duffy
Fern Francis Duffy was born last Friday, January 25, 2008. She weighed 6 pounds 6 ounces, and measured 18.5 inches long. The birth was amazingly awesome, and I got to catch her as she came out and bring her up to my chest!! She is doing great, nursing great and keeping me up at night as expected. It is amazing to look at her little face and hear her little noises. Her big sister is having a tough go of adjusting to her new life, but each day is getting a little easier...kind of. Each morning I'm having to rely on the truth that God's grace is sufficient for today.

tired
so tired, so tired, so tired. it's the point in pregnancy when one wants to sleep all the time, but the body is too uncomfortable and the mind is too unsettled. but i'm going to try to sleep.
less than 4 weeks til due date of fern francis. not too many signs of labor coming anytime soon.
i've been making some really cool stuff lately, i should take pictures but i'm too tired. i was at the maternal wellness center today (in mount airy), and saw some of my stuff still for sale there. pretty cool, but my new stuff is way more fun. i think i need to switch out the old for new.

fridays
today is friday. i just coated my first silk screen with photo emulsion, and i'm really excited to explore the options of photo negatives. i'm hoping to get my new logo into different sizes and see where i can take that (garment logo on inside of pieces, launder and care info, recycled paper tags, etc.). i also want to do some cool silk screening besides the logo. i hope i don't botch the screen altogether.
yesterday i made granola, and it turned out awesome. i don't have my camera right now, so no pics, but it's tasty. i also sprouted some sunflower seeds and i think they're edible now. it was pretty easy and fun, but we'll see how they taste. next are some alfalfa sprouts and some yogurt. i'm going to try the heating pad method of keeping the temperature up.
i just found this site yesterday while looking at a cool fashion blog (fashion isn't always nyc and runway, this one was cool portland bike freaks obsessed with refashioning and everything). his hats are sweet and i'm definitely going to be stealing some ideas. reload apparently sells his hats. besides his business he seems like a real cool guy too.
my computer is either shocking me or pinching my armhair, really strange. but i've got hats to cut out and work to do, so i'm out. i'll update with pictures soon.
oh, i forgot to mention, my bubblegum pink deep-v velocity wheelset arrived on wednesday. i am totally excited to start building my city bike! they're so cool.
